Warsaw stands on the Vistula.
The Vistula rises in the Silesian Beskids and runs about 1050 km through Kraków, Warsaw and Toruń into the Baltic Sea at Gdańsk. In Russian it appears above all in military history, as in the Vistula-Oder offensive of 1945.
