Usage info
As compared to специально, which usually indicates "for a particular reason, to achieve a particular result", намеренно is usually used to describe actions of a controversial, harmful, or criminal nature. Emphasizes that the action was done with intent and conscious choice.
Its antonym is нечаянно.
