Perfective; imperfective нагонять.

За неде́лю мы нагна́ли упу́щенное вре́мя.
In a week we made up the lost time.
Typically with время, упущенное, отставание.

to instil, to inspire (fear), to give (a scare)
Он нагна́л на детей стра́ху свои́ми расска́зами.
He gave the children a scare with his stories.
With на кого-либо: нагнать страху на кого-то.

нагна́ть is derived from the unidirectional verb of motion гнать.
