This is the most important question.
Used before adjectives and adverbs to form the superlative; more formal-sounding than самый. Compare больше всего.
Usage info
A superlative adverb. The differences compared to самый: наиболее is more common in academic or scientific contexts; it only has an adverbial form, unlike самый which can decline for case; and самый can mean "the very, the exact" while наиболее does not carry this meaning.
