Mostly in fixed phrases such as «ни полуслова», «оборвать на полуслове».
2.
from a mere hint, at the first word
Они́ понима́ют друг дру́га с полусло́ва.
They understand each other at the first word.
Only in the phrase «с полуслова», usually with понимать.
