Of fire, a burning building etc.; stronger and more literary than «гореть».

to glow, to be flushed, to burn (of cheeks)
Её щёки пыла́ли от моро́за.
Her cheeks were glowing from the frost.
Of a face, cheeks, or the sky taking on a red colour.
3.
to burn (with emotion), to be aflame (with)
Он пыла́л стра́стью к ней.
He burned with passion for her.
With the instrumental: пылать страстью / гневом / ненавистью.
