по́мнить: A note before diving in: these two are not a true aspectual pair. По́мнить has no perfective counterpart — it describes a state, not an action. Вспо́мнить is the perfective of вспомина́ть. They are paired here because they are semantically close and frequently confused.

По́мнить is a stative verb. It describes an ongoing condition — the fact that something exists in your memory right now. Because it's a state rather than a process or event, it has no perfective and resists progressive readings.
