    Он стреми́л взор к далёким гора́м.

    He directed his gaze at the distant mountains.

    Bookish and archaic; found mainly in poetry, e.g. стремить взор, стремить бег.

  • 2.

    (rare) to seek, to strive (for), to aspire (to)

    Да́же е́сли бы э́то бы́ло возмо́жно, не сле́дует стреми́ть к э́тому.

    Even if it were possible one should not strive for it.

    In modern Russian the reflexive стремиться is used instead.
