Се́рдце ёкает от волне́ния.
My heart skips a beat with excitement.
Almost always with сердце as subject; the perfective ёкнуть is more common.
2.
to start, to flinch, to give a start
Он ёкает при ка́ждом ре́зком зву́ке.
He flinches at every sharp sound.
3.
(rare) to hiccup, to have the hiccups
Малы́ш всё вре́мя ёкает после еды́.
The baby keeps hiccupping after eating.
Regional; the standard verb is икать.
