to calm down, to cool off, to simmer down

Don't shout, calm down!
Often in the imperative.

Examples

Ешь, пока не осты́ло.
Eat, while it's still hot.
Еда́ осты́ла.
The meal is cold.
Даже когда на кры́ше до́мика лежи́т снег, э́то не означа́ет, что ками́н внутри уже осты́л.
Even when there is snow on the roof of the cottage, that does not mean that the fireplace inside has already cooled down.
