    He was poking the ground with a stick.

    Often with «в» + accusative for the thing poked or poked into.

    to point (at), to point one's finger (at)

    Не ты́кай па́льцем в люде́й.

    Don't point your finger at people.

    Usually «тыкать пальцем в кого-либо».

  • 3.

    to address as «ты», to address informally

    Не ты́кай мне, мы не знако́мы.

    Don't call me «ты» - we don't know each other.

    No perfective counterpart.
