1.
to erect, to build, to construct, to put upconstruction
Специали́сты не́сколько лет возводи́ли огро́мную до́мну.
For several years specialists were building a huge blast furnace.
Somewhat formal; used of large structures.
2.
to elevate, to raise (to a rank), to turn (into a principle)
Не стоит возводи́ть отде́льный случай в при́нцип.
There is no need to elevate a single case into a principle.
Usually with в + accusative: возводить в ранг, в принцип.

Строители возводят свайный фундамент для дома.
The builders are constructing a pile foundation for the house.
Строители быстро возводят стены нового завода.
The builders are quickly putting up the walls of the new factory.
Рабочие возводят новый дом на окраине.
The workers are building a new house on the outskirts.
Строитель, порушивший стену, начал возводить новую.
The builder who demolished the wall began constructing a new one.
В центре города возводят высокий памятник.
A tall monument is being erected in the city center.
