to guess, to conjecture, to speculate, to surmise
Не стоит гада́ть, что бу́дет за́втра.
There is no point guessing what tomorrow will bring.
Often with «о чём-л.» or a subordinate clause; implies guessing without enough information.
2.
to tell fortunes, to read cards, to practise divination
Ба́бушка гада́ла ей на ка́ртах.
Her grandmother told her fortune with cards.
Typically «гадать на картах / по руке / кому-л.».
