Perfective; takes с + instrumental. Most often used with a negation.

to control (oneself), to keep in check, to get a grip on
Она́ не могла́ совлада́ть с собо́й и распла́калась.
She could not control herself and burst into tears.
Especially in «совладать с собой» = control oneself.
Examples
Все до́лжны совлада́ть с большим коли́чеством тру́дностей в э́том ми́ре.
Everybody in this world has to cope with a lot of difficulties.
