Motion info

идти́/ходи́ть is a verb of motion pair:

· идти́ is unidirectional → go right now or in a specific single trip.

· ходи́ть is multidirectional → habitual movement, repeated trips, or there-and-back movement.

идти́/ходи́ть are both imperfective and thus focus on the process. Use the perfective aspect partner instead if you want to describe a completed action.

Usage info

Ходить is multi-directional: it describes the action of walking around without a fixed goal or end point, a bit like the English verb 'to wander' (Compared to Идти which is uni-directional: it describes someone walking in a straight line from A to B).
