She cuts her son's hair herself.
Used both of the hair (стричь волосы) and of the person (стричь ребёнка); стричь налысо = cut someone's hair down to the skin.

to shear (sheep), to clip (an animal)
Весной ове́ц стригу́т.
The sheep are sheared in spring.
3.
to trim, to clip, to mow (a lawn)
Он стрижёт газо́н ка́ждую суббо́ту.
He mows the lawn every Saturday.
