Usage info

When used to mean "to add", the idea is not just “add” in general, but specifically adding more to something that already has some amount in it.

Он доложил угля в печь. → He put more coal into the stove.

Нужно доложить бумаги в принтер. → We need to add more paper to the printer.

Доложи ещё риса, если есть. → Add some more rice if there is any.
