Он прибли́зил ла́мпу к кни́ге.
He moved the lamp closer to the book.
Usually with к + dative for the point approached.
2.
to bring nearer (in time), to hasten, to bring forward
Э́та побе́да прибли́зила коне́ц войны́.
This victory brought the end of the war nearer.
3.
to bring into line with, to make similar, to approximate (to something)
Перево́д надо прибли́зить к оригина́лу.
The translation should be brought closer to the original.
With к + dative: bring closer to a norm or original.
