Subject is a period of time or a threat; often perfective in the past tense.

to pass (a place), to go past, to drive past
Мы минова́ли пост ГАИ.
We drove past the traffic police checkpoint.
Takes a direct object naming the place.
3.
to escape, to avoid, to evade
Тебе́ не ми́новать неприя́тностей.
You won't escape trouble.
Mostly in the negative construction «не миновать» + dative: 'X cannot escape ...'.

Examples

That doesn't mean that the danger has passed.
