He has taken to being late for work.
Colloquial; usually of an undesirable habit and followed by an infinitive.

to keep coming, to take to coming (somewhere), to keep showing up
Сосе́дский кот пова́дился к нам в сад.
The neighbours' cat keeps coming into our garden.
Colloquial and disapproving: of someone or an animal that turns up again and again.

Examples

Кот повадился ходить в наш двор каждый день
The cat has got into the habit of coming to our yard every day.
В Варшаве поли́ция пова́дилась трясти́ люде́й на у́лицах.
The police in Warsaw got the habit of searching people in the streets.
Пова́дился кувши́н по во́ду ходи́ть, там ему и го́лову сломи́ть.
The pitcher goes so often to the well that it eventually breaks.
