To be or not to be, that is the question.
In the present tense the copula is normally omitted in Russian; only есть survives (see below).

Есть же до́брые лю́ди на све́те!
There really are good people in the world!
The present-tense form есть is used for all persons and numbers to state existence or availability.
Usage info
After "быть" the noun goes in the instrumental - but only in the past, the future and the infinitive:
"Он был учи́телем" (He was a teacher), "Она бу́дет врачо́м" (She will be a doctor).
In the present tense you simply leave "быть" out, and the noun stays in the nominative: "Он учи́тель" (He is a teacher).
Examples
Жела́нию похвали́ться о неда́внем успе́хе бы́ло невозможно сопротивля́ться.
The urge to brag on his recent successes was irresistible.
Будь на вокза́ле ровно в одиннадцать.
Be at the train station at eleven sharp.
