She gave the child some warm milk to drink.
Perfective of поить; used both of people and of livestock.

to get someone drunk, to ply with drink, to make drunk
Друзья́ напои́ли его на дне рожде́ния.
His friends got him drunk at the birthday party.
"Ply with drink" and "abfüllen" are colloquial.
Examples
Медсестра́ напои́ла больно́го апельси́новым со́ком через стекля́нную тру́бочку.
The nurse gave the patient his orange juice through a glass tube.
Мы напоили чаем забредшего в село путника.
We gave tea to the traveler who had wandered into the village.
