She sat for the artist for three hours.
Usually with the dative: позировать художнику.
2.
to pose, to put on airs, to behave affectedly
Он не и́скренен, он про́сто пози́рует.
He isn't sincere he's just posing.
Disapproving: of insincere behaviour meant to impress.

Tom posed for a picture.
Том хоте́л, чтобы Мэри пози́ровала обнаженной для его карти́ны, но она отказа́лась.
Tom wanted Mary to pose in the nude for his painting, but she refused to do so.
