to block (from view), to hide, to cover, to screen
Высо́кий мужчи́на заслони́л мне экра́н.
A tall man blocked my view of the screen.
Often with от + genitive (from the light, the wind).
2.
to shield, to protect, to screen
Он заслони́л ребёнка от ве́тра.
He shielded the child from the wind.
Typically заслонить кого-л. собой — shield someone with one's own body.
3.
to overshadow, to push into the background, to take the place of
Э́та вы́думанная пробле́ма заслони́ла неотло́жные.
This made-up problem overshadowed the urgent ones.
