Often of legs tucked under the body or a dog's tail; поджать хвост also figuratively 'become meek'.

He pursed his lips in displeasure.

to press, to be pressing
Сро́ки поджа́ли, надо торопи́ться.
Time is short now - we have to hurry.
Used with время, сроки; the imperfective поджимать is more common.

(rare) to tighten up, to tighten a bittechnical
Поджми́ га́йку ключо́м.
Tighten the nut with a wrench.
Technical, of a nut or bolt.
