He rarely shows up in public.
Of a person putting in an appearance at a place.

to see (a doctor), to present oneself for examinationmedicine
Тебе́ на́до пока́зываться врачу́ раз в год.
You should see a doctor once a year.
With the dative: показываться врачу.

Examples
