He took it into his head to go there alone.
Perfective; followed by an infinitive. Often implies the decision is odd or ill-advised.
2.
to not dare (do sth), to not even think of (doing sth)
Не взду́май повтори́ть э́то.
Don't you dare do that again.
Only in the negative imperative «не вздумай(те)» + infinitive, as a sharp warning.
