Мы до́лго выбира́лись из леса.
It took us a long time to get out of the forest.
Often with из + genitive; implies effort or difficulty.

to manage to get to, to get out, to go out
Мы ре́дко выбира́емся в теа́тр.
We rarely manage to get to the theatre.
Colloquial; usually with в/на + accusative.

to find a way out, to get out of (a difficulty)
Он с трудо́м выбира́ется из долгов.
He is barely finding a way out of his debts.
4.
(rare) to be elected, to be chosenpolitics
Депута́ты выбира́ются на четы́ре го́да.
Deputies are elected for four years.
Passive use, mainly in formal or official language.
