shotgun, gun, rifle (common in use but not quite correct, see info tag)
A 'ружьё' = shotgun has a straight barrel. Only for a short firing distance, since in contrast to a rifle, the projectile fired does not have any twist for flight stabilization.

- Ружьё не заряжено.The gun isn't loaded.
- Том был уби́т отравленным дро́тиком, выпущенным из духового ружья.Tom was killed by a poison dart fired from a blowgun.

- Вилли нечаянно вы́стрелил из отцо́вского ружья и проде́лал дыру́ в стене.Willie accidentally let off his father's shotgun and made a hole in the wall.
- Изба́вьтесь от ружья.Get rid of the gun.
