Typically of facts, feelings or intentions.

They helped hide the fugitive from the authorities.
Often with от + genitive: from someone.

to cover, to hide from view, to obscure
Темнота́ скры́ла очерта́ния домов.
The darkness hid the outlines of the houses.
Subject is usually darkness, fog, a wall etc.
