I called to warn you.
Used with an infinitive when the subject of both clauses is the same.

I am speaking loudly so that everyone can hear.
Followed by a past-tense form when the two clauses have different subjects.

Я хочу́, что́бы ты оста́лся.
I want you to stay.
After verbs like хотеть, просить, требовать; English often uses an object plus infinitive.
